A Prayerful Man with a Paintbrush™
Carroll "Timothy Tiger" Burgoon
"Playing in the paint is
like trying to stop time in a 'spring' rain."
#️⃣#️⃣ Carroll was coloring Christmas cards with a magnificent set of Crayola crayons as a 4½ y/o, after his older sister died tragically at age six and he couldn't find words to express grief, mourn, or put an end to survivor guilt.
He's made photographs since he was 6 y/o.
"I waded into life's deep end kinda early.
I couldn't wait to get started."
1️⃣ Carroll was an Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia (ANSP - The oldest in the Western Hemisphere) Junior Curator at 5½ y/o, where he later served as a freshwater environmental scientist and Principal Investigator in Limnology & Ecology.
My Sigma Xi (ΣΞ) underwritten Honor's Thesis got me graduated from a Minnesota college.
Carroll is an innovator.
He had "clearance" at Savannah Nuclear Power research site (350 sq miles of closed airspace), and Georgia Power's Nuclear Plant Hatch. His boss co-authored the Environmental Protection Agency's first regs with Ruth Patrick, PhD and the president of the United States of America.
ANSP was the first job of debutantes of East Coast Old Money and prestigious schools.
Carroll grew up in a very small village 10 miles west of Valley Forge, where General George Washington had his Colonial Army hospital.
2️⃣ "I grew up in elite-level competitive sports, esp. running and track bike racing.
I grew up around world champion horsemen and Olympic team members. My doctor dad was an avid tennis buff. I had tennis lessons since I was knee-high to a wood racket. Dad had been an A-student, a front page running back and a 53s 440 guy on a scoria track at Harrisburg Academy in the 1920s, before he went pre-med in college and enlisted in time to land in the Third Tide on Dog Green, on D-Day. Then, he was deployed to Lingayen Gulf, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. Going fast fearlessly is my normal. It wasn't about taking risks.
It never occurred to me that people lived any differently. My Kung Fu sensei was Army Infantry. His dad was 442nd. Our veterinarian was a USN CPO. Service is my habit."
Carroll was born an INFP-A creative,
despite his MD parents wanting a scientist.
"My uniform was jeans, a t-shirt, and boots --- not a suit and tie. My bed was mitered when I got up each morning before the rooster crowed and got to work. Personal discipline matters as does personal accountability."
He dropped out of a southern UGA Master's (Aquatic Entomology), a northern UDEL PhD (Ecology), and two Texas MBA programs --- Where he had the top grades in grad Calculus, Accounting and Marketing; He is certified and proven in Communication, Leadership & Sales.
"Scholarly, technical stuff wasn't my bag -
I rode my Colnago and Condor, collected mayflies, caddisflies, stoneflies, and studied
what I chose. I was a reticent wallflower:
Fair payment was a nagging, troublesome issue, as was needing a lady to love me!
Yes sir. It's been costly learning to love my empathic, sensitive, idealistic, creative, spiritual, artistic self; I finally did it!
I like working against the clock."
SEEDS OF A LIFESTYLE: SPORTS
He was a speedy banked track bike racer (1975: As a Cat 4 cyclist qualified as PA State Alternate to US Nationals (RHR 28, VO2 Max 75) --- He loved banked track cycling and trained on SE PA roads - bolted onto his brakeless Condor with Cinelli M71s! Carroll did not have a coach. Then, he was a distance runner, 1981-83, with a 4:08, 8:56, 31:57, and 1:17:15 on 70 sub-six miles each and every week --- Again, without a coach. Carroll's a humble, confident guy who thinks punctuation is just a graphics tool --- He used to run 8 miles at 4AM and 10 more after work --- To race a 5K. Carroll was a Little League RF, then P, an NRA sharpshooter, a JV wrestler 5 years, a Varsity doubles tennis player (Norm Bramall taught me to learn by watching once.), did a gymnastics pommel horse exhibition, belted in Kung Fu. Carroll maintains his grip and core strength, and a high level of independence as he walks, hikes, bikes and lives, thus keeping his mind strong, steady, and gentle. Men are born XY, and women are born XX ---
God made us one or the other. Genesis 5:2.
(Wise men & women often stand alone.)
"The race is not to the swift but
to those who keep on running."
- Caption on Carroll's favorite inspirational poster. (He ran sub-six up a hill like this on Rte. 401, slower near World's End State Park and a switchback trail in Yosemite NP. He scrambled
over the Continental Divide in the Anaconda Pintlar Wilderness and jogged 120 miles on the AT, both with a 75lb backpack. As a sprint cyclist he did the really, really, really hard HIIT stuff,
including, a steep cobblestone street with a big, fixed gear on his track bike in Athens, GA;
Racing at East Point was a hoot.)
"Hills cultivate my mental gentleness
and harden my will to win."
3️⃣ Carroll connects dots others don't see.
"I'd had extensive 1-on-1 sales training and mentoring with the best in the U.S.A. My forte:
Birddogging, referral generation, client building, client retention, ... I learned from the best in many different fields, a jack of all trades.
Results (ROI and ROAS) matter to me."
He was head, chef, and bottle washer of a Dallas boutique marketing firm for 10 years.
A referral from America's top boardroom consultant said, "[She] sent me. That can only mean one thing. You must be [super, super] good. Other client examples: A referral from of top pro speaker's coach & consultant were a civilian USAF two-star in charge of 30,000 civilian scientists at Andrews AFB and a sales and marketing VP for an oil and gas giant, ...
The #2 American airline, as ranked by Visual Capitalist, wanted to produce 500,000 inflight cabin magazines in English and Spanish --- Carroll flew coach to Spain and Brazil on its jets and stayed with friends who seemed to own almost everything since time began. The flight crew told him where to go to have a wedding ring designed and made for his vivacious, busty companion who had both CPA and MBA by the time she graduated -- Whose mother had set up his study with the famous "Paco" Alcaraz.
Ask about the Stearman and Twin Otter.
PREVIOUSLY
"My Philadelphia clients had all been Big Eight accountants, PNB, PNC, Mellon, Girard, bankers, law partners, business owners, MDs, and DOs. They all love 'The best of the best' things. I do. They all want to be loved and appreciated. Iwas recruited at the Athenaeum by a general agent who'd been the #1 salesman nationwide with the perennially #1-ranked World's Most Admired' insurance company. Aaron taught me to sell on a napkin, and have it stick. I won national recognition for volume and client retention ---
Nor do I hold other's hands."
THE BEST FIND ME
"I threw away a note from the U.S. President, George H. W. Bush, applauding my community service in north Texas feeling unworthy --- I was in Toastmasters' leadership and honored as Rookie of the Year out of 1,200+ in the world's #1-ranked district (4,200 members). Then, I was elected Northern Division Lt. Governor overseeing training and development of about 600 members in 30 clubs, then, appointed District Treasurer. PROBLEM SOLVING.
I joined for effectiveness of public speaking
and leadership, that's all. I gave 225 public talks and workshops in my first six months and was on radio, TV, cable, and corporations e.g., Texas Instruments, State Farm Regional, Federal Credit Union, etc. Later, I gave 525 more keynote art talks in Barnes & Noble Bookstores, K-5, middle schools, high schools, colleges, AAUW-SMU, University of Chicago Alumni, ... Rotary, Kiwanis, seniors, Dallas Police, radio, 50+ newspapers, corporations, ... by 9 mos. I'd torn up my vocal cords so, I got back to doing what I do, quietly getting people involved."
SEEDS OF MODESTY: NOVEMBER 1993:
"Then, at 4AM one morning, I stood alone in my marketing office and spoke into the empty room, 'Please reveal my gifts to me and help me use them.' I didn't know anyone was listening. Six months later I was painting on the far side of 'The Pond' in Spain. I sold my marketing business overnight when I returned stateside.
I chose the path less traveled
as Robert Frost exhorted!"
4️⃣ 5️⃣ 6️⃣ 7️⃣ Watercolor is like being fluent in Latin and a 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th language -
It teaches you to think out-of-the-box and probably wards off dementia while improving your brain's cognitive function as does multilingualism. Few collectors ever master
the finicky language of curating art on paper,
let alone being knowledgeable of watercolor:
Albrecht Dürer, John Singer Sargent, J. M. W. Turner, Paul Klee, Thomas Moran, Winslow Homer, Andrew Wyeth, Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, Georgia O'Keeffe, Edward Hopper, John James Audubon, Mary Cassatt, John Marin, and Leonardo da Vinci.
"I hid in historic 'Unique by Nature,' McKinney, TX and avoided its thriving arts community, where I made 12 of watercolors --- 16 others were on display at Christ Fellowship for 2 yrs.
(Four were portraits of McKinney residents modeling for Book of Luke sermons. The megachurch's senior pastor had The Dallas Morning News come interview me. Twelve were featured in a 400,000-member Chicago nonprofit's custom 'loyalty' calendar with 75,000 selectively mailed gratis worldwide.)
A painting was at Plano City Hall, put there by the Fire Chief, Bill Peterson after 9/11.
Even Ross Perot, Sr. phoned me one morning to coach and assist me - I courted a vivacious 4.0 debutante for one year --- My parents loved her. I dodged that 380 hollow point bullet, though
overnight someone 'egged' my car. Oooh."
Dr. Lazar chimed, "SIMPLY INSPIRATIONAL"
over lunch in his office, 1996(?), after Carroll attended Four-star Westmoreland's black tie (Distinguished Eagle Scout, the USMA Pershing Sword, Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army) with 40 Medal of Honors in the First-Class Dining Room on RMS Queen Mary. The Artist Carroll sat with SPC4 John Baca, Medal of Honor. Carroll befriended two Knight Commanders of the Knights of Malta who were there; Both reported directly to the Pope in Rome. Kitsy had her New York lawyer son, Kip, take a photo of her with Carroll and a Vietnamese general. "An oil company president, took me after Westmoreland's Aide de Camp, Col. Roger Donlon, MOH, made arrangements."
- Dr, Lazar, world's dean of brain surgeons.
"I was surprised by a gracious letter from
His Majesty Juan Carlos I The King of Spain -
I kept it!"
CONFESSION
"I've noticed adults who experienced trauma and/or abuse in childhood often have a very long and circuitous recovery phase, often with a lot of resistance. Boy, I know firsthand. I found myself impatient attempting to help them through insufferably slow progress, something best left to the pros. And then, it's time to get out of the way and let them fledge. Change can be unnerving. Dyslexia has always nagged me, and I dislike tests, entrance exams, and cubicles. I don't know how to say what I do, so I just call myself an artist. It's easier than being tongue tied and trying to tell them leaves mouths agape."
My favorite color is Ferrari RED symbolizing speed, passion, and well, game-changing, Masterful technique. Dopotutto (After all), it has a high-pitched Vvvrrrrrooooooom!"

Could AI have made van Goghs, Picassos (IQ 175), Leonardo da Vincis Mona Lisa, Salvator Mundi, or The Last Supper, ...?
8️⃣ 9️⃣ 🔟 ...
"It was a Brazilian heiress, granddaughter of the co-founder of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo who arranged my study with D. Fco. Alcaraz.
Later, I learned Alcaraz was famous throughout Europe. The older gent was my teacher.
"A high-velocity jet fighter screamed 50' overhead and the pilot looked down on me as I painted, Los Robles in Spain. Startled, I tumbled out of my blue REI chair.
A lady in The Oaks, California has it.
One of my art mentors did the largest player contract the NFL had ever seen. He handled a lot of household name superstars & more.
I am blessed beyond measure!"
GENEROUS MEN & WOMEN AIDED ME.
"Thank You!" "شكرًا لك!" "Merci!" "Danke schön!" “謝謝你!” "Cảm ơn!"
"감사합니다!" "¡Gracias!" "Obrigado!"
En homenaje a Sr. Alcaraz (An orphan): 30 originals to The Adoption Exchange-NM. The artist Carroll's interview by CBS Evening News ran two weeks with the highest response in the Adoption's history. United Artist Theaters ran the images on the big screen before all movies in CO and NM for 30 days.
Ms. Kathy Dugas, 7th-Grade Art, General Wayne JHS, GVSD.
"A gifted JHS teacher, she taught me perspective, to draw hands,
fingers, and to decorate interiors with pleasing sophistication.
She showed me Albrecht Dürer's Young Hare, Praying Hands, and Large Piece of Turf. She set the bar very high --- Outstanding! She pushed me to do better.
Women always look at my fingers and wonder. I have good hands.
Hall of Fame BGen USMC (Ret.), Woodrow M. Kessler, Bronze Star with a "V" attachment, former POW, my 11th-Grade Art Appreciation teacher, also at GVSD, first urged me to go to Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia after high school. Art was too expressive. I became a freshwater scientist at ANSP in Philly, because it was quietly safer. Later, I switched to a painter and poet. It stuck.
🎖️ Carroll supped with 40 Medal of Honors at Westmoreland's 50th wedding anniversary. An oil company president got Carroll there aided by Sir Edward Artis, Knight Commander of the Knights of Malta, who invited Carroll to join Sir Ed's inner circle of former presidents of U.S.A., Europe, and South America --- Kitsy's son, a big shot NYC lawyer, shot a picture of his mom with Carroll on the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. To continue, at General Westmoreland's black-tie Carroll was seated with SPC4 John Baca, Medal of Honor.
Listen to this 1st Cavalry Division interview:

Col Roger Donlon, GEN Westmoreland's ADC, the first Medal of Honor
in the Vietnam War, sent Carroll the Four-star general's invitation.

FORWARD-THINKING PHILANTHROPY
Carroll donated thirty-thousands of his prints, books, artworks,
cash and did 50 hours per week as a volunteer.
"I wanted to help people by supporting gallant, intrepid citizens.
Theirs are incredible stories of selfless valor that benefitted us
AND our future generations.
100% with no restrictions. Amazingly, 8-9 CEOs said, 'Thank you.'
In the past, two city councilmen valued my gifts at $21 million
(Equal to about $80 million in 2025 dollars). An artworld insider angrily told me that my paintings were seriously underpriced 15 to 20 years ago. A friend of his, who owned a big-three movie studio, wanted to make a film about me.
I wasn't ready."
ONE MORE, A Biggie in 2025
"Captain Chris Cassidy USN Ret., former chief astronaut of NASA's space shuttle, Navy SEAL, and the current President and CEO of the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation in Arlington, TX, accepted one of my prized paintings in a gold-leafed, hand-carved frame (As Alcaraz' made frames for European kings, queens, and to hold masterpieces in the greatest art museums, e.g., Le Louvre in Paris and El Prado in Madrid - Chris graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and M.I.T. My donation honors America's priceless heroes, including Douglas Munro, the Coast Guard's Medal of Honor. Alcaraz carved two for my 1994 'Spain' paintings."
IN TRIBUTE TO A FALLEN U.S. MARINE
The first sketch in the art slideshow above is Cpl. RD Foster USMC (Ret.) making music in downtown McKinney. The second, a photograph of the American flag at a 9-11 memorial. Both were made by Carroll in McKinney, Texas. RD precipitated Veterans Memorial Park and Veterans Memorial Wall at Collin County courthouse. Ronnie received a Certificate of Recognition for his service “in promoting peace and stability for this Nation” presented by Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfield in 2001, a U. S. House of Representatives Certificate of Congressional Recognition in 2021, The State of Texas House of Representatives Patriotism Award, The Texas Veterans Commission “Patriot of the Year” award, The Collin County Historical Commission “Living Legend of Collin County” Award, and The Distinguished Citizen award of the Daughters of the American Revolution. You probably didn't know RD. Nevertheless, we remember what these FORWARD-THINKING Patriots did.
They were real people, like you and me, with high hopes and passion.

FAMILY HISTORY
"I remember what they did."
The Burgoons are the Burguns from Burgundy, France, and were until our cordwainer patriarch, Jean Jacques Burgun, anglicized our family name (in 1740) while aboard the Palatinate tall ship Lydia sailing to Baltimore, MD in the Colonies. (P. 91, Ellis Island, NY Harbor records.) Burgoon's were of the pugilistic Burgundiōnes who kicked butt all over Europe starting in ca. 249 AD after they returned to the mainland from Burgundarholmr Island, Denmark. The Kingdom of the Burgundians became a renown part of France --- Burgundy, France. Carroll's great, great, ... uncle signed with Gen. George Washington's Continental Army that tented on Rebel Hill (Where Carroll lived), and Washington's blood-stained Army, marched past The Overhanging Rock at Gulph Mills for a frigid winter at Valley Forge. Carroll was named after Freemason Charles Carroll of Carrollton. CCC was JJ Burgoon's next door neighbor in a German community in Carroll County, Maryland. JJ was a French shoe dog and an artist!
Carroll's great, great, great, ... uncle rode into Fort Worth in 1850.
Carroll flew into DFW from PHL in June 1984, and now, ...

"I was surprised at 6AM on Christmas morning to get a phone call from a Tour Champion's happy wife saying at that very moment her husband home from the PGA Tour, was positioning their furniture around her surprise gift, a bespoke painting I made of his dog at his signature hole, The Colonial CC!
"This www took longer to do than I thought.
Creating art is titillating and sensual for me.
I'm going to paint some more, now.
"PS- I signed the GTF blue denim long sleeve

a truck driver who cherishes it!"
